What is life coaching with a coaching psychologist?

Coaching with me is a ‘you and me’ collaborative process, rooted in psychological practice, that’s fun, empowering and accessible. I help clients identify their goals/hopes/strengths/superpowers etc.,  overcome whatever head-stuff is getting in their way and create the right, easy actionable steps and plans to achieve the growth they want. It’s about empowering you to reach your full potential and make positive changes and decisions in your life. We figure it all out together!

How is life coaching different from therapy?

Coaching focuses more on the present and future, helping you understand what you want and make the changes that help you thrive. It’s action-oriented and, whilst there are always nods to the past and how it’s shaped us, we do not dive deeply into the past, which is more the realm of therapy. Therapy is designed to heal emotional pain, while coaching psychology is about forward movement, change and self-development.

What kind of aspects/problems/goals can I help with?

I help client with anything they are struggling or stuck with! As a coaching psychologist, I don’t need to be an ‘expert’ in a given field of work or type of issue. I tune into people and how they ‘tick’ so get in touch and let’s chat on what you’re wanting. I have worked with previous clients on a wide range of topics, including:

  • Career development and transitions
  • Building resilience
  • Emotional intelligence
  • Personal growth
  • Self-confidence
  • Work-life balance
  • Health and wellness
  • Improving relationships
  • Conflict management
  • Time management and productivity
  • Navigating major life changes
How do I know if life coaching is right for me?
Life coaching is a good fit if you’re feeling stuck, are lacking motivation, want clarity, are not sure of what direction to take or need support in achieving specific goals. It’s for people who are ready to take responsibility for their lives and are committed to making change. If you’re motivated to grow and need guidance to reach your next level, coaching with me will be a valuable resource.
What should I expect during a coaching session?
During a session, I will ask you thought-provoking questions to help you clarify your aspirations, identify limiting beliefs, explore challenges and pinpoint strategies for success. I may offer psychology-based tools or exercises to increase your self-awareness, and we will create plans/steps for you to put into action. Sessions are typically collaborative and focused on solutions.
How long does life coaching take?
The length of life coaching varies depending on your goals and the complexity of your situation. Some clients may work with me for a few months to tackle a specific goal, while others may continue for a year or longer for ongoing support. Typically, clients see progress that endures within 3 to 6 months.
How often should I meet with a life coach?
Most clients meet with me once a week or once a fortnight, depending on needs and scheduling. Regular sessions help maintain momentum and accountability, but the frequency can be tailored to your preference. We can meet online (globally) or face to face (at my Kent office) and sessions are usually 60 minutes, but adaptations can be made to timings. I work Mondays (9-5) and Tuesdays and Fridays (9-3).
Can you help me if I don’t know what I want?
Yes! Many clients seek coaching because they feel uncertain or unclear about what they want. I help you explore your values, strengths and passions, guiding you towards clarity and purpose. You will gain will, insight and action and through self-discovery you’ll begin to define your aims and your direction.
What qualifications should I look for in a coaching psychologist?
Chartership as a coaching psychologist can only come through the British Psychological Society, so look for a coach who is certified by them as well as with reputable not-for-profit regulators like the International Coaching Federation (ICF). I’m with both. These memberships show a coach has completed a recognised, reputable coach training program, has worked for a significant time in the field and continues to develop their practise through professional development and learning opportunities. Beyond certifications, choose a coach whose style, experience and personality align with your needs.
How is success measured in life coaching?
Success is measured based on the aspirations you set. I will help you create measurable outcomes, and we track your progress over time. Success could be achieving a specific goal, making a significant life change or feeling more confident, happier and fulfilled.
Is coaching confidential?
Yes. Coaching maintains the strictest levels of confidentiality and adherence to ethical standards, ensuring that everything discussed during sessions remains private. Confidentiality builds trust and allows for open and honest conversations. The only limits to it are where information may be shared and confidentiality breached for reasons such as safeguarding, requirements of the law and public protection.
Can coaching psychology really help me achieve my goals?
Yes, coaching psychology can be incredibly effective if you are committed to the process. Coaches provide accountability, guidance and tools to help you make progress, but it ultimately depends on your willingness to gain insight and take action to make the necessary change.
What is the difference between personal and professional coaching?
Personal life coaching focuses on individual growth, relationships, health and well-being, while professional coaching is often more career-oriented, focusing on leadership development, managing conflict, career transitions or improving work-life balance. I am skilled in both areas and can address multiple aspects of life as work and home are so often intertwined.
How do I choose the right coach?
Choosing the right coach involves considering factors such as their experience, coaching style, and areas of expertise. It’s also important to feel comfortable and have good rapport with your coach. I offer an initial consultation call to determine if I’m the right fit for you.
What is the cost of working with me?

How much are you worth?
How much is your fulfilment worth?
